ESSA at the OBESSU Summer Camp

ESSA Council Members Mitchell Cox and Katie Rodgers recently attended the annual OBESSU Summer Camp. Read Katie's report below:

Over the 17th-24th August, Mitchell Cox and I took part in the OBESSU summer camp entitled “One World One Care” This was held in Amiens, France. The aim of the summer camp was to join together European school student unions and to gain a common understanding on human rights whilst all learning some new information on the topic.

During the summer school, ESSA ran a workshop to some of the participants of the summer school. This workshop was entitled “Reality”. This workshop was designed to show people how despite what it may appear like, sometimes the harsh reality of human rights in practice is a lot different. The workshop ran for two hours and included videos about the history of human rights and also aspects of participation from the audience such as creating a mindmap of words they though were associated with human rights.

The workshop received very positive feedback from its participants and ESSA are hoping to run ‘Reality’ again in the near future.
