Government Outlines 21st Century Education Plan

Student announcing planAmongst the Government's education initiatives are School 'Report Cards', which will give parents and students an easy way of comparing different schools through their performance.  The Cards will also go beyond raw achievement data and include information such as how schools provide for students' overall wellbeing, as well as how satisfied parents and students were with the school.

The focus of the remainder of the iniatives is on personalisation.  Learning is to become more tailored to the needs and abilities of individual students, helping every young person to achieve their potential.  Services will also move to become more integrated, with the school as the centre of the community.

Ed Balls, Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families, said Britain needed "a world-class education system" and these were among several measures implemented in an effort to achieve this.
