ESSA National Student Voice Conference
On 19th November ESSA hosted its third National Student Voice Conference at the Trade Union Congress in London.
ESSA have again been quoted in the national press! The edition of the Times Educational Supplement for 9th November contains Jack's comments on a recent national survey on quality of schooling.
Nuffield Review Core Group
On 7th November, ESSA attended a meeting of the Nuffield 14-19 Review Core Group. This is a group of experts in education, ranging from teachers and university professors to independent education consultants and government representatives, who are producing a series of papers on education issues.
Ed Balls plans to raise the School Leaving Age to 18
On 5th November ESSA attended a Fabian Society event at which Ed Balls MP (Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families), announced his plans to raise the school leaving age to 18. The event gave ESSA's Student Support Officer, Jack Lewars, the chance to raise student objections with the Minister. Communication between ESSA and the minister is ongoing.
