Ed Balls plans to raise the School Leaving Age to 18 On 5th November ESSA attended a Fabian Society event at which Ed Balls MP (Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families), announced his plans to raise the school leaving age to 18. The event gave ESSA's Student Support Officer, Jack Lewars, the chance to raise student objections with the Minister.  Communication between ESSA and the minister is ongoing.
