The Phoenix Education Trust is a national charity that promotes "democratic education" - this means education in which all members of the school community have a voice and a say in decision-making. Phoenix works in partnership with ESSA on projects to develop and promote democratic practice in schools. It also offers a small travel bursary for students and teachers who want to learn more about democratic education.

ATL (Association of Teachers & Lecturers)

ATL is a large education union of teachers, lecturers, headteachers and support staff in the UK. They are affiliated to the TUC, and work with the government and employers to achieve better conditions of employment for their members.
TUC (Trades Union Congress)

The Trades Union Congress is a large organisation which brings together Britian's unions. Their member unions represent over 7 million people at work. They campaign for a fair deal at work and for social justice at home and abroad.
NUT (National Union of Teachers)

The NUT is a large union of teachers. It believes that young people are more likely to develop their full potential through access to free, high quality education delivered by good local schools. Recognising that the voice of young people should be heard, the NUT has included ESSA in many of its education conferences and events.
OBESSU (Organising Bureau of European Secondary Student Unions)

OBESSU - The Organising Bureau of European School Student Unions is a platform for cooperation between the national school student unions active in secondary education in Europe. It brings together member and observer organisations from more than 25 European countries. All member organisations (inclusing ESSA) are independent, national, representative and democratic student organisations.
